Macro Calls Using Custom G and M Codes

There is a function with Macro programming that allows the user to create custom macro programs that are called with either a G or M code that the user defines in specific parameters. Any action that is done on a regular basis – like jogging a horizontal mill spindle close to the door for tool exchange or load after tool change –can be accounted for in a macro program. In the case of a tool change on a mill – normally M06 – the user can define any M code to call a program that would change the tool, and rapid spindle to door for an easy-to-reach manual tool change or load. The M06 could be used – or some other M code not used by machine builder like M60 – so as not to alter the function of M06. Users are able to create custom G codes or M codes, with the possibilities limited only by the user’s ability to create math formulas and define needs for these programs.
